19 months old

Its hard to believe Bailey is 19 months old.  We went to her well check up appointment a few weeks ago and she is only 22 pounds.  That puts her in the 10th percentile for weight, but she is 31 inches tall and that is 50th percentile.  So she is just a skinny minny!  She hated the doctor this time.  She cried the whole time and it started before we even got her weighed.

She really is growing up so fast and it breaks my heart.  It seems like in just the past few weeks she has changed so much.  She is so independant and wants to do everything herself now.  She still loves playing a little momma to all her babies.  She follows direction so well now, expect when we are telling her "NO."  We can tell her to put her toys away and she does or throw something away and she goes right to the trash can.  If only I could start giving her actual chores. I can actually give her a wash cloth and she will wipe things off, thats a start right??

She walked in the bathroom the other day and pointed to her diaper like she had to potty.  So I asked if she wanted to go potty on the toilet and she said yes.  So I took her diaper off and sat her on there.  She started making grunting sounds.  It was the funniest thing thing ever because its not like she sees me do that or anything.  She just came up with it on her own.  I have sat her on there many times before and she sits and sits and then is done with nothing in the potty.  Well she got up and I took her to put a diaper on, again with nothing in the toilet.  But once I got her to lay down I realized she had a little poop on her butt.  So I took her back to the toilet and told her to try again.  She started grunting again and actually pooped in the toilet. I couldn't believe it because we aren't even potty training yet.  She peed in their once again for Jason after she napped one day.

Other things she is doing:
-She will sit and watch cartoons and dance to the songs on Nick Jr.
-She knows all of her body parts.
-Can take her own pants off.
-Her favorite song is "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus--We listen to it at least 10 times a day!!!
-Can say mommy, daddy, mamaw, papaw, nanny, Eash (Jasons sisters name Ana-Leisha), Itsty (Misty for my sister), Bebba (For Becca the little boy I babysits mom), Eye, Doggie, Kitty Kitty, ish (for fish), and can sign for more and says mo mo.

The doctor says she should be saying a lot more.  She actually just started saying this stuff within the past few weeks.  So we are having a speech therapist come out to our house to see if she has something wrong with her speech.  I have been freaking out for months because she didn't want to  say anything but "uhh uhhh uhhhh"  and point. I know there probably isn't anything wrong with her, but I would rather be safe than sorry and get help before its too late.  So to all you mommas out there:  When did your baby start talking?  Were they young? Did you ever have problems with them not talking until a later age?  I would love to hear your story!

Unexpected Package

We received a package in the mail right before Christmas.  I got so excited when I went to the door and there was a package sitting there and we weren't even expecting one.  YAHH!  Of course I had to rip it open ASAP and it is from a lady Jason works with from China.  She sent some place mats, chop sticks, a purse, a scarf, and this adorable outfit below.  Thanks Helen!!
P.S.  The hat does not go with the outfit, she just wears it all the time now.  This is the girl who last week hated things on her head including hats, bows, and hair clips.

Doesn't she look so cute in this??  As you can tell Bailey has turned into a little model these days.  You tell her to turn and she turns 1/4 of the way and so on until she has turned completly around.  She has to make sure I get all sides of her.  She also sees the camera bag and automatically says "Cheese!"

Thanks again for the outfit!!

Sleepy girl

From day one Bailey has never slept anywhere besides her crib.  Well I take that back she would occasionally sleep in her bouncy seat when she was a newborn, but other than that she always slept in her bed.  Things changed in the past few weeks.  The holidays have really worn Bailey out or I should say preparing for the holidays.  She had some beeforoni and was then having a peanut butter ball ....pictures should explain what happened next.

We then had to run errands later that evening and she ended up falling asleep on the way home.  She didn't even wake up when we got her out of the car.  How sweet is that little face?

Snow storm 2009 Part Two

I'm back I'm back!!  Remember this traffic that we sat in while trying to get home to WV??  Well if not check here to see how the first half of the trip went!

This is snow that was plowed in a grocery store parking lot.  We had to go there to get more baby wipes.  It was a Sunday evening that we were staying in Staunton, but it was also the Sunday before christmas.  We went to the mall and tried to find something to do besides keep Bailey couped up in a hotel room.  The mall was closing because there were only like 20 people there.  All other stores outside the mall were already closed!  I couldn't believe it!  I was ready to finish my christmas shopping, but that town had other plans for me!

The small things that keep kids entertained!

Our lovely hotel that Bailey destroyed!

One of two trucks we saw on their side.

The roads on the way home.  We thought they were bad the day before.

Once again another car wrecked.

I hope you can see this one car.  All you could pretty much see were the sideview mirrors because they had plowed so much snow on it.  I can't imagine leaving my car to the unknown on the interstate.

We finally made it home late afternoon Monday.  It was a very interesting ride home.  We saw about a total of at least 30 cars wrecked on the side of the road, 2 tractor trailers on their side, and 2 other tractor trailers just wrecked.  My back hurt so bad because I tense up in bad weather.  I have decided I am not traveling anymore during the winter.

We get home and guess what we had to do?? Play in the snow.  It wasn't as fun as it would have been if the snow were fresh.  But Bailey still enjoyed it.  She really couldn't move much because I had her so bundled up.

It sure did make her laugh!

Watching her daddy shovel the snow.  As you can tell the salt trucks don't come out our way to salt or scrape the road.

Overall it was a nice trip and nice to get away for a weekend.  Thanks RPM for the christmas dinner!

Snow storm 2009 Part One

Well if you remember the storm I talked about here then you may know why I haven't posted yet.  We went to VA Beach for Jason's company christmas party.  We had a great dinner Friday evening with everyone.  Bailey even won $10 because her name got pulled out of the deck of cards.  Thanks RPM for a wonderful evening.

Saturday we headed out to shop ALL day.  It was probably the worst day to shop because it rained so hard all day.  But I didn't let it stop us from finishing up with christmas gifts.  I have lots to wrap now!!

We then get up Sunday morning to head back home.  We knew of all the snow everyone had between VA and WV and couldn't wait to get home to play in it.  We bought Bailey a snow suit a few weeks ago preparing for a big snow.

We heard different roads were closing through the weekend but, figured they were opened by the time we started home.  We had a few friends that were stuck on the WV Turnpike for 21 hours because of the weather.

Obviously, it didn't snow at all in VA beach. This is right before going in the tunnel on Hampton roads.

The snow started to get bad once we got around the Richmond area. We left Sunday morning around 9 thinking that it was late enough for some of the ice and snow to melt. This was the first car we saw that slid off the road. This one had just recently happened.

If you look to the right there is a truck off the road.

This is the way the road was the whole time.  Obvsiously, there was only one lane open for most of the ride.  Sometimes the fast lane would be cleared.

Please notice the speed we are going!

This is the road when we got past Richmond.

A van on the left side of the road.

We continued to call 511 on road conditions.  That is the number you call when you want to know road conditions in VA.  Well it didnt tell anything about road closings or delays.  The only thing they repeated was the roads were icy and wet and road crews were in the process of cleaning everything up.  So no one really knew what to expect.  Then we see a sign up ahead that could have told drivers what to expect  further ahead.  WRONG!  As if we couldn't tell the roads were icy there was a sign to tell us.

Another abandoned car covered in snow on the right.

3 more cars.....

I have never seen a snow blower before so I thought I would share.  We even got to drive under the snow!!

Another car wrecked....

Usually a trip from Va Beach to WV usually takes about 7 hours with a toddler.  Well we only made half the trip yesterday and that took us about 6 hours.  We had no intentions of stopping when we left that morning.  But when we saw the traffic in the next picture we knew we couldn't sit in the car with Bailey to get through that.

We ended up getting a hotel  around 3:30 and staying the night.  We went to a small mall and out to eat and got back to our room around 6.  I talked to a couple that were traveling from San Diego to Fairfax VA see their grandchildren and they had just checked in to the last room that early in the day.

I will save the second part of the trip for the next post!

Rain?? Where's the snow???

Just in case you all were wondering I don't like snow.  Well I only like it if there is A LOT A LOT!!!  Well thats how much we have at home.  I am in Va Beach where all we have is rain!!  We are going to attempt to get home tomorrow.  There are lots of roads shut down because of this winter storm.  So fingers crossed we can make it home.  But at least we don't have to go out in the snow to go shopping!! (But then again who wants to go out in rain???)  Ok enough complaining!  This is how I feel about the whole situation.
